What is Intro to Infrastructure?

Think you know all about infrastructure? Think again! You may know HOW infrastructure is built or operates, but do you have a full picture of how all the parts of the industry fit together? Do you understand how decisions are made – or who makes them? Or each stakeholder’s role in the infrastructure development ecosystem? Or how a successful bid is formulated or chosen? Or what major issues and opportunities are on the horizon?

Led by some of the industry’s most seasoned professionals across the private sector and government, Intro to Infrastructure has been designed to provide you with the knowledge of how the overall industry ‘actually works’ over two fun-filled and interactive days (knowledge that ordinarily requires up to 10-15 years to acquire!) – so that you can help build Australia’s future…

• Those working in any aspect of the infrastructure sector (planning, construction, design, operations, suppliers etc.) with 2-8 years of experience.

• Lauren Streifer

  Founder and CEO of Streifer & Co.

Lauren Streifer is the Founder and CEO of Streifer&Co – A global CEO advisory and stakeholder engagement firm. Lauren has more than 15 years of experience working with global infrastructure companies and state and federal governments. She has extensive experience in the civil infrastructure, transport, engineering, international development and event management sectors. She is also a passionate MC and diversity campaigner.

• Clare Gardiner-Barnes

  Facilitator

Clare has worked in government executive positions for over 20 years including in Queensland Education and was the CEO of the Department of Transport. Clare has worked as Head of Strategy, Planning and Innovation at Infrastructure NSW and as Deputy Secretary, Freight, Strategy and Planning at Transport for NSW. In these roles, Clare provided advice to government, transport and construction sectors on safety, funding priorities, planning, freight and national policy.Clare has held board positions at the NSW Telco Authority, Austroads, Roads Australia.   Clare is an advocate for diversity and inclusion, women in leadership and workforce flexibility.

Day 2

• Step by step analysis of project conception, design, construction and operation.
• What are tenders and how are they managed?
• What defines success in infrastructure?

Case study activity – ‘Project Life Cycle – Fast Train from Brisbane to Sunshine Coast’:
